Tripple Murder Suicide in Manchester

Tripple Murder Suicide in Manchester

Mrs. Sally Porteous, Councillor for Mandeville, in a release to the media today said that there seems to be an inability for people to “let go”. She says this kind of obsessive behavior cannot be allowed to continue. She says anyone who has it in mind to shoot their way out and then kill themselves should “stop it!”, as it is not a nice way to be remembered. She said she is deeply disturbed by the incident that has claimed the lives of a woman corporal a young businessman and an innocent child. The incident tool place minutes after 12 am Monday April 18, 2011 in the quiet community of Melrose Mews Manchester. Dead are Woman Constable Bevon Hutchinton-Anderson, her son, Keinon Shaw, his father Rohan Shaw and ex-police Sergeant Osbourne Whitton. Reports are that Mr. Whitton gained access to the home of Woman Corporal Hutchinson-Anderson this morning a few minutes after twelve where he shot and killed her and Rohan Shaw, then entered the bedroom of the Keinon and shot him. He then told a neighbour that he will be killing himself on arrival of the police. One taxi operator in the are said he heard one explosion after the police arrived. Mr. Whitton was found with what appeared to be a gun shot wound to his head. He was taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 1:30 am. Keinon Shaw was a twelve year old student of McIntosh Memorial Primary. He was described as a quiet and promising student by his principal Ms. Sharon Anderson.

Member of Parliament for Central Manchester Mr. Peter Bunting is supporting Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington’s call for former and current police personnel to seek help if it is needed. Mr. Bunting in a press release issued Monday April 18, 2011, said he is calling on members of the force to report on others who seem “mentally unstable”. He said that the public depends on police officers who are in good health and that the stigma that could be associated with an officer getting therapy “pales in comparison” to what therapy can prevent. Mr. Bunting’s call came hours after a triple murder and suicide were committed in Melrose Mews Manchester, a community he described as “quiet and unaccustomed to violence of this nature.” He sends condolences to the families of the deceased who are Woman Corporal Bevon Huthinson-Anderson, who was stationed at Cross Keys Police Station, her son Keinon Shaw, his father Rohan Shaw and Osbourne Whitton who committed the murders before turning the gun on himself.

Two pot holes on Brumalia Road, in MANDEVILLE, one east of McKinley Road and the other on the incline near the Jamaica Bible College and Community Institute, have become serious threats to the lives of persons who use that road. These pot holes have been there since early 2009. A resident who lives in the area told Pace he has reported the problem to both the Manchester Parish Council and the National Works Agency with out any response. He said he now thinks the authorities are waiting for a serious accident to take place to confirm that the pot holes are dangerous before they repair them.

Road Repair

After Pace highlighted the fact that the road in Spalding, leading to the Knox High School and Community College, was in a severe state of disrepair, although some of our government members have benefited from that institution, it was duly repaired. Former Member of Parliament and councilor Mr. Richard Azan responded and did assure that he would be making efforts to have it repaired. However, during a building dedication exercise at the school recently, MP and Sate Minister, Michael Stern also took credit for getting the road repaired.

Culture Day

Sacred Heart School in Christiana was one of many schools which celebrated on _February 28th. The day is used by schools across the island to highlight items and cultural practices indigenous to Jamaica.

Waiting for New Mandeville School

Since the celebrated signing of a contract at the Courtleigh Hotel, in Kingston, on April 28th 2006, to build a new high school in Mandeville, to date not even a location to build the school has been identified.
However, many are still hoping it will be built before the end of this century.

Bad Parking Habbits Obstruct Pedestrians

Manchester Road in Mandeville, from Perth Road to the heart of the town has become the sole domain of some business establishments and taxi operators. Trucks Double Park in front of the Dragon store at any given time, while business owners are comfortable parked in the available parking spaces. Pedestrians and shoppers are forced to walk in the roadway fighting taxi operators and vendors for space to walk. The trucks park with utter disregard for the town’s people while residents wanting to do business in the town risk having their motor vehicles clamped to the delight of the Manchester Parish Council’s coffers.

NWC Mandeville

The arrogance of some personnel in the Mandeville office of the National Water Commission (NWC) defies explanation. Recently after the NWC installed a new meter in a resident’s home in Mandeville, the water bill moved from an average of two thousand dollars per month to twenty five thousand the first month .The second month the bill retuned to its original average amount . When an explanation was sought from the NWC, they simple said the customer had a leak and had to pay the full amount or have the service disconnected and expressed no interest in helping to solve the mystery of the disparity in the billing. When questioned how they were able to determine there was a leak when they have not been to the customers home to carry out a leak test, the customer ended up with a phoned being slammed in her ear. The irony is that when the bill went up , the area was out of water for weeks, due to what the NWC claimed was a burned up pump. The message here is, the less water you get the higher will be your water bill. To date no plumber or the customer can find a leak at the premises.
